Do You Have One of These?

I have this "thing" that is always around that seems to capture every moment of my life.  My words, my actions, my reactions, and pretty much every move I make.  You may have one of these "things" too.  It's always there, soaking up every moment of my life, taking things in, processing, and then regurgitating in some form or fashion that which I have allowed for it to take in.

Do you have one of these?  Here's a picture of my mine:

I am constantly reminded that I have been given the job to disciple my daughter and teach her how to be a follower of Jesus and to love others.  However, a lot of times, I am teaching her the exact opposite!  Of course, I'm not intentionally teaching her anything that goes against the principles that I listed above, but actions most definitely speak louder than words!

Lindsay is at such an impressionable time in her life and she picks up on EVERYTHING.  This is such an important time (it's important all the time, but you catch my drift) for me to make sure that I am examining my own heart and ensuring that I'm "spilling" out the right things.

Whew~ what a tremendous responsibility we have been given as parents!

I pray that the Lord would daily remove the stone from eye and reveal to me the areas that I need to work on in my own life so that I can pour out His love on my daughter and others.

  1. Such a good truth! They are so impressionable and love to mimic us all the time! All the more reason (as if LIFE in His Kingdom wasn't enough) to draw closer to The Lord so I will act and do and say things in a way Jesus would act, do and say them. Thank you for the reminder...

  2. Whew is right!!!
I have three of those things and I am overwhelmed most days at the amount of responsibility that is. But I love each one of them and I want them to love Him. This is a great reminder of how I need to watch what I do and say. Unfortunately, I am reminded of the changes I need to make all to often. I also pray that He would show me the areas I need to work on so that I can pour out His love on our kids and other.
    Thanks Kelly!!
