Christmas Shopping

I am so excited that October has almost arrived.  I love the fall and am thankful for the few days of cooler weather that we've already had and am looking forward to finally getting to spend some time outdoors and enjoying it!  Poor Lindsay didn't go outside very much during August because it was so hot and she is a mosquito magnet...she is looking forward to being able to play outside again.

This is also the time of year when we start to get wrapped up in all the holiday hub-bub.  It seems like the last 3 or 4 months of the year really fly by much faster than the rest of them!  Every year I say that I am going to start buying my Christmas presents early so that I will be done well before Christmas actually gets here.  And, every year I usually don't manage to buy  much of anything in advance and always end up buying everything within a few weeks of Christmas!!

This year I have finally started buying things early!  I bought my first presents back in July/August (this is not really all that spectacular, I know some fellow frugalista's that started back on December 26th!).  I have already purchased approximately half of my Christmas shopping list!  Unfortunately, it is mostly the guys that I have left, which are the hardest ones to buy for!

If you are like me, you make some of your purchases on-line.  One of my friends told me about the handiest website, it is called priceprotectr.com

Let's say for example, that you find an item for sale on Amazon that you really want to purchase, but would like to wait and see if the price drops.  By registering the item with priceprotectr, it will "watch" the item for you and send you an email when there's a change!  Pretty nifty tool!  I've got one item that it is "watching" for me right now and I've received 2 emails so far notifying me that the price has changed (although it still hasn't changed enough for me to make the purchase, but I've got more time to wait).

One advantage of starting your shopping early is that you have plenty of time to look around for the best deal!
